OakTree Fellowship
We are believers on the way.
Our commitment to the Lord is genuine, real, and vibrant.
Our relationship to one another is close-knit and Christ-centered.
We are more interested in Christ-directed life transformation than mere intellectual assent.
Our gatherings express and reveal Jesus Christ and in which every member functions and shares.
Our community life is alive, nurturing, and where each believer is growing to love Jesus and one another more and more - a community where no one stands alone, develops alone, or grows up alone.
We want to live Christ deliberately and passionately even though we are all going through a sort of spiritual detoxification effect (spiritual baggage we have embraced as being truth but not found in the New Testament), we are neither legalistic nor libertine in our lifestyles.
We do not attend traditional church services as passive spectators.
We are believers who choose to gather in homes.
What is an organic church?
We all know what the term organic means. It means 100% natural without any artificial or man-made ingredients added. This is a non-institutional form of church because it is born out of the experience and life of Christ within His people. No man-made structures or programs are used or desired.
An organic church is a community of believers who are founded and function upon the daily life of Jesus Christ within them.
Who are we?
We are plain, ordinary, run-of-the-mill believers. Our backgrounds vary, but our love for the Lord Jesus identifies our hearts and is the foundation of our unity. We were planted by a released church planter. We hope to see a network of organic churches spring forth in our community in the days ahead.
What do we believe?
We believe in the mainstream values and Biblical doctrines of historical Christianity. Our unity is based on our oneness with Christ. Our commitment to each other is also based on the oneness of His Body with Him as Head. Sola Christo. Sola Scriptura. Sola Gratia. Sola Fide.
What are our gatherings like?
They are informal, as a family gathering might be. Everyone is free to participate. Our emphasis is Jesus Christ. Prayer, singing, testimonies, teachings, sharing revelations, and face-to-face interaction can happen at any time in any gathering. We have discovered that no two gatherings are alike. Our gatherings are punctuated with lots of fun, camaraderie and, at times, mingled with tears. The Holy Spirit guides and we follow.
We are discovering His leadership and Body vitality in our living rooms as we gather to worship, encourage, and build each other up. Are we perfect? Are we always right? No. We are on the journey just like you. Together we are discovering freedom in Christ and a unity that supports a practical life of expressing Him.
Our fellowship extends beyond our gathering times and spills over into daily lives. We are a community, not a weekly gathering.
What makes us unique?
We try to keep things simple by keeping Christ central. We would like to be known for our love for Jesus and one another.
How do we make decisions?
As a collective body, we decide by consensus - not democratically, but in the sense that the Holy Spirit imparts direction and we wait patiently on the Lord to speak to each person. We were planted by a released church planter. We hope to see a network of organic churches spring forth in our community in the days ahead.
What about giving?
We believe that each person should give what he/she has decided in his/her heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, but cheerfully (2 Cor. 9:7). We identify and try to meet needs first within the church, then our city, the region and then the nation. Each person chooses whom/where/when/how.
What difficulties have we experienced?
We all have much spiritual baggage we are dropping in light of discovering that church can be and should be simple and organic as compared to complex and institutional. Also, there is no place to hide. We come to gatherings ready to give. We worship by our participation. We are sharing the totality of our lives with one another, not just gathering once a week. We are becoming a true Christ-centered community.
Is this for you?
Only you can decide. We find this simple-organic church to fulfill the need for intimacy with Christ and one another, and for what Jesus Himself prayed for on our behalf, that they may be one even as you Father and I are one. We wanted to experience Body life, and could not find it in traditional church services.
