Doug, I could not be more in sync with your CORE ministry. This is basically the model that I (or we) follow. I am convinced that deep life change takes place in the smaller units of triads or quads. As I am sure you are aware this is what I write about in Transforming Discipleship and an attempt to implement in Discipleship Essentials. May the Lord use your ministry to not only turn the hearts of many leaders to this basic strategy, but you also find them ready to be equipped. I find so few pastors still who have committed themselves to a practice and strategy of investment in a few with a view to long term multiplication. My wife and I are self supported missionaries here in the Philippines. Our sole support comes from my disability pension. God multiplies this small pension of mine, and does a great work here. We sold much of what we owned to come here. We sold our home, two vehicles, household effects, etc. We have two wonderful, God sent children ages 1-1/2yrs old (DJ = Darryl Jr.) and 1-wk old (Danielle Mariae). As you probably already figured we had the 1-wk old baby here in the Philippines. We had to pay the full price for her delivery out of our pocket, because we have no health insurance here. We had 2 miscarriages before we had our children, and they said our second baby would be born with Down Syndromes. We are very happy for her sake that she is a beautiful and healthy baby girl. Both of them are precious and priceless! As well as all people for that matter. We arrived here on January 24th of this year. We started our church services 5 wks ago, but the 5th week we were unable to have service due to the birth of our baby girl. In our 4th service we had over eighty in attendance, but we are still earning the trust of these kind and humble people. We want so much to see souls claimed for the Kingdom of God, but we know only the Holy Spirit can draw them. We are buying bibles for all of those who have never had a bible, or who presently do not. We are feeding them after services each week as often as possible, because these people are so incredibly financially challenged. We feel the Lord wants us to feed them both spiritually and physically. The needs of these people are overwhelming. We are so humble by the Lord's choice of calling us here to serve. We have seen many souls claimed for Christ, physical healings twice (cancer), and church conflicts resolved. We have bought a keyboard, song books, CD's, microphones, sound cables, craft supplies, bibles, foods, cooking supplies, and often times are called upon to help them financially. So far we have answered every call by the Lord's grace. You are already giving me a greater service than you could realize here on earth. In heaven though, I know you will have so many rewards and treasures laid up for you. I think then and only then you will realize the millions of lives you have feed. Your ministry is a blessing. I am a minister who lives by faith, without support from outside sources as far as salary goes, but we are doing great. So far there have been perhaps 20 people, most of them homeless who are affected by the ministry for good. I've wondered so many times why I charge for presentations for the 3rd Airborne Division. I will not wonder or charge anything anymore. It's HIS message HE wants out so all may know HIM. It's HIS promises everyone needs to know. It's HIS money to provide as HE wills and it's HIS power He's sent so I might be of service for HIM. I trust in HIS provision in it all.
